6/25-Update: Baltimore Sun Article by Mr. Rob Kasper with a summary of our experiences! Check it out!
Friday night was a momentous one for me and my little blog. I got to meet some of the other “famous” (in my eyes) blogging foodie baltimorons! AND we got to go flavor tripping, aka eating a miracle fruit and see its glorious effects on our tastebuds!

There is a picture of the wee little fruit that had so much power over my tongue when it came to acidic foods!
Here is one of the spread’s that Roopa laid out for us to sample. My favorite things to eat were the limes, lemons, grapefruit (oh yea!), sour patch kids, vinegars and cream and goat cheese! Basically everything tasted perfectly sweet and not tart! The citrus tasted like it had been candied! Also the cheeses tasted like cheesecake!

The enzyme in the fruit binds to your sweet receptors and whenever acids bind to that enzyme stuck to your tongue, the enzyme grabs it up and activates your sweet receptors tricking your brain into thinking whatever acidic food you are eating is loaded with sweet goodiness instead of tartiness! (Check out this youtube link for Roopa’s scientific explanation!)
I was very impressed and even more happy to meet everyone! Check out my fellow blogging friends in the Baltimore section of my blogroll links!

This sounds so interesting! I’m going to see if I can find it in Ottawa!
