chicken and rice…royale! April 11, 2008

Last night’s dinner was impeccably simple (and cheap!) and was perfect for our rush to get out the door to get to class, film class (no less!) to see the updated Casino Royale. And apparently in some way that movie has ties to feminist theories…but OH YUM Daniel Craig. (he was definitely “dessert”!)

And also apparently from my redundant dinner colorings, I like orange, white and green things!

yay for tasty tasty cow! I took my mentor on his first trip ever to Brewer’s Art and we had our share of resurrections, ozzie’s and delirium tremens…BUT we also had some scrumptious meat and rosemary garlic french fries!

All I can say is, there are no better fries on this earth to go with a delicious burger as this!

rosemary & thyme chicken with extra marion March 28, 2008

How about some herb crusting??

Dianne’s photo inspired me to do the same with my rosemary and thyme I had left over from the tenderloin and braised ribs dishes from the weekend!

and I added a little bit of fresh parmesan too!

….and since it is Thursday, I ventured over to the campus of Towson University with Laurita to watch her Women in Film class, and what did we get to enjoy? None other than the freaking scariest movie ever! PSYCHO!

Well actually I did not think it was the scariest movie ever, rather comical at the end I think… and because I live under a rock (a cockeysville marble one to be exact) I had no idea the son was the one doing everything!

chocolate and chocolate?? and top cheffie March 20, 2008

Thank you Coconut & Lime because you brought some chocolate into my life today. :-)

My sister’s boyfriend was over all day and him and Laura made me dinner! YAY. The cook had rest! ….until I found the need to make cookies…for the cookie monster! (yes..me).

They made some awesome steak fries with rosemary garlic and olive oil + s&p. 425 deg for an hour makes some perfect potatoes, although someday I will be able to make ones as good as at Brewer’s Art. And we had chicken quesadillas with fresh salsa from wegmans. truly delicious! and that is the truth because I ate too fast to stop and take a picture. :-)

Top Chef was alright last night, it made me happy to see Wylie Dufresne in attendance. I think the molecular gastronomist contestants could have stepped it up a bit more! oh well! Right now, I’m rooting for Stephanie!

la vie en rose March 19, 2008

First my rabbit food dinner…

I sauteed some Salmon (with lots of salt and pepper) in some “clarified” butter (aka Butter+Olive Oil=Good Times). Also baked some asparagus at 375 deg for 20 minutes, also with a nice olive oil drizzle and salt and pepper. Lastly, sauteed brussel sprouts in olive oil with garlic and then threw in some chicken stock, brought to a boil and then simmered for 20 minutes also! I can never go wrong with a good crusty salmon and asparagus, but next time I buy brussel sprouts, I’m going to make sure to get the smaller sized ones. The big ones (which I probably should have just cut in half) were too much sprout to handle!

Then sister and I went on a trip to the mall, to ogle at the Nordstrom top floor and then down to our favorite theater…the Charles!

Continuing my with french obsession…we saw La Vie in Rose. OH wow! Marion Cotillard is a magnificent actress. That is all I can say.  Very bittersweet movie, but isn’t most of life like that? Take the good with the bad and appreciate it all, because thats why we are alive…to take and embrace life for all that it is.

I love this shot of the marquee.
