a birthday Woodberry Kitchen visit

Well Mr.ECM is quite a fine birthday dinner companion! He spoiled me rotten with this dinner!

Woodberry Kitchen is quite the experience. The building is a renovated mill and is enormous! The outside grounds are so romantic and relaxing (there is a fire pit!) with lots of gravel. The inside is a deconstructed factory concrete kind of feel with beautiful wooden tables, etc. We got to sit upstairs overlooking the whole room. One random thing I noticed which I loved, was that all of the waitresses wear the cute half aprons that you would see in Anthropologie! The staff are really hip and make you feel very comfortable as if you were in someone’s kitchen!

Here is our appetizer, the Baked Stuffed Clams, with roasted green chile, bacon, and bread crumbs! Quite amazingly delicious!

And these paired very well with our wine selection!

See the rest below!

SO YUMMMM. Gewurztraminers are definitely my favorite! This one was very slightly sweet and perfectly smooth. It paired great with the bacon in the clams!

I got the Griddled Wild Rockfish which came with a cherry tomato tart, eggplant relish, and an herb sauce. The eggplant relish had to be my favorite part of the dish. I could eat that all day long. Note the little garnish of sea salt! Fantastic!

ECM got the beef tenderloins served atop grilled fresh vegetables with a serious portion of a fresh herb compound butter. The butter is almost as big as the meat! awesome.

The most fun part of the meal was the cheese course! On the left is a cheddar, middle a gouda, and right is chevre. The chevre served with a piece of fresh peach and a dollop of honey mustard (in the little cup) was amazing! Who ever thought such a quaint little cheese plate could be so much fun! We also got a glass of Pinot Noir to share.

Lastly was a fantastic chocolate explosion! haha, well there was also espresso and caramel… It was a scoop of espresso and vanilla ice creams, 2 blocks of chocolate fudge, a homemade chocolate marshmallow and a chocolate chip cookie, all with whipped cream and caramel and chocolate sauce! woo wee!! Can we say DELICIOUS?? All served with a precious candle and a wish for many more happy times in the near future!

26 is going to be great! I just know it! 😀

  4. Happy birthday! Glad you loved Woodberry – I wasn’t too thrilled when I went, nor was a friend of mine who went last weekend – it’s really hit or miss (and the vegetarian options are not what one should be ordering there, so that might have something to do with it!). But the desserts are awesome, especially those ice creams!

    26 is a fun year – enjoy it! 🙂

  5. 26 and still mobile, able to get around on your own -you are just too old for words. So if the 50’s are the new 30’s, this puts you at 17.

  6. Happy birthday!!

Sounds like a wonderful meal. I’ve heard mostly good things about Woodberry Kitchen — I’m anxious to go.

  7. Looks like you had a wonderful time! I’ve been there 3 times now, but haven’t had any of the things you ordered! I will try some when I go in a few weeks 🙂 Thanks for the review and HAPPY BIRTHDAY!
