And I am insane for waiting until the LAST POSSIBLE day to finish this beauty! But its all good, because she’s full of chocolate, crispy and crème brûlée deliciousness! I cannot wait to continue carving it up tomorrow for the New Year’s Eve Dinner Party!!!
I went pretty traditional with this recipe- a hazelnut dacquiose, a dark chocolate ganache insert, a dark chocolate praline insert (with lace crepes!), dark chocolate mousse, a simple vanilla crème brûlée insert and a chocolate icing! I topped the yule log with extra praline and raspberries (also going into our champagne…) 😀
HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!
Abuelita loves ME! a whole lot… 😀
that is all.
I had a great time this month making loads of cookies! Two standby varieties and lots of new ones! So lets start this off mentioning that I am the cookie monster. I cannot get enough of those tasty little bites of sugar and chocolate! I think the addiction started when I was growing up, grandma always used to “hide” the superfluous tins of cookies on top of the china cabinet so we wouldn’t spoil our meals constantly, lucky for me I wasn’t a munchkin and could reach them!
My cookie baking worked out well this year, as I gave out most of these to my coworkers and friends as gifts! (I think they enjoyed them… I know I enjoyed the baking part and possibly licking the bowl… 😉 )
Merry Christmas to you and yours!
I would like to think that Gertrude’s is the quintessential place to go out for a nice brunch in Baltimore. They had the surroundings decorated very tastefully (with the exception of the funny gingerbread guys!). Their menu always includes a vast array of delectable crab breakfast dishes and they use impeccably fresh ingredients.
I was very excited last weekend to join my buddies, Julie & Meg, at this fine Baltimore historical eating establishment. This place is great! The owner of 40 years still was working the register and was a delightful little man! Everything there is clearly homemade and it shines.
Locust Point is really an up and coming neighborhood and it is blessed to have such a gem. Apparently during the weekdays you can see local politicians and other people of Baltimore significance. Check out our random “breakfast” below!
Oh just look at that deliciousness… I love mushy (not that the food was mushy, just easy eating) comfort food! Thomas Keller is seriously a culinary genius- I cannot wait to continue cooking my way through this book!
My bestest girl Kelly decided to celebrate her 28th birthday in fine foodie fashion at the Orchard Market & Cafe and I was positively excited to join her! I had no idea this place existed and am very happy to now know a local place for some delicious Persian food!
We (well at least the girl’s did) had lots of fun discussion about her upcoming wedding (South Carolina coast in October?? Sounds good to me!! 😀 ). See our dinner choices below!
So I don’t know about all of you but the waistband seems to be banding a little tighter these days… I tried to remedy this last week by making a delicious and absolutely healthy feast for Laurita and I, and on the WHITE PLATES! Now I normally reserve the white plates for my fancy things and don’t serve salmon dishes as something “blogable”, but since this recipe came from Barefoot in Paris– I thought it was white plate worthy. 😀
Lentils are oh so french and I was amazed to never had made them before! Although this time I think I undercooked them…but they were still edible, so there we go! And also for this dish I got to use my homemade chicken stock! (which I don’t have very much of and was probably not worth the effort, but alas I got to use it!) oh and I don’t think mr.macro function was in action on Tuesday…
The gang (8!) got together for brunch last Sunday for positively delicious fare and hilarious/sad recounts of the insanity that ensued the night before at Miss Shirley’s in Roland Park!
This place is so homey and crazy (especially on Sunday morning’s for brunch). All of the food I have ever had there is top notch. Check out some dishes below!
So I jumped on the beautifying bandwagon and Hannah was there to graciously catch me! That sweet lady was sooo patient with OCD me and is clearly talented and gracefully brought my vision to fruition (strawberry fruition 😀 ).
To celebrate these new fun changes I made whoopee pies! I don’t know if this is authentic whoopee pie recipe- but boy is it delicious. Sweet spongy brownie like cookies smooshing a wallop of gorgeous marshmallow. I think they have become my favorite cookie EVER, and thats coming from the cookie monster! 😛 Also another thing to celebrate was getting tagged by Lucky! Check out the recipe and my responses below!
