The Fish that tried to Kill Me

Yep, thats him! A whole sea bass from Wegman’s and he was actually delicious, even though a teeny weeny bone of his got stuck in my throat! Thank gosh Neds quick thinking and the awesome loaf of salty Wegman’s garlic bread saved me from sure near death. πŸ˜›

So I didn’t quite die, but I did realize you need to be careful when eating something whole like that! Check out the edible version and recipe below.

Heres a close up of the deliciousness.Β  This was a very simple and quick preparation!Β  We got the butcher to scale him and then from Alton Brown’s advice, we should have cut off all of the fins before we baked it, but alas I digress.

Preheat the oven to 400 degrees- season the out and inside of the fish liberally with salt and pepper. Stuff with thyme sprigs, garlic and lemon slices. Also top with thyme and sauteed peppers and onions (previously softened in a pan for about 10 minutes) and more lemon slices!

He was ΓΌber healthy and very neat! Not used to seeing those little beady eyes when I’m chowing down, but I think its a good thing when you can see the head of what you are eating- helps to remind you that this animal died for my nourishment.
