Peanut Butter Cookies and Podcasts

April 27, 2012 at 7:00 am | Posted in Dinner | 2 Comments

Let’s hear it for FRIDAYS!!! Yeah I’m that happy this week is over. Sometimes my occupation leaves me with no time to breathe or relax… or maybe I’m just being dramatic. But it wasn’t too fun. On Wednesday however, I had time to listen to some Dr.Laura and some Homefries podcasts… and I went on a walk and reheated some leftovers and then went to my happy place in the kitchen.

Making these simple peanut butter cookies was real fun. I saw the recipe from Cup of Jo and instantly thought, “oh! I could give them to my coworkers for all their help this week! and oh! I could give to my mom’s movers after all is said and done on Friday! and maybe there was an oh! I can eat some!”

Well the last one has already happened, and then first one went well, now its just that middle one that will prove to be an adventure all weekend. So go for the jump to see more cookie stuff that and just go have an awesome end of April adventure this weekend! And shout out to Beffy – it’s her birthday! Happy Birthday Beffy!!!

Need to Breathe – 9:30 Club

April 22, 2012 at 7:56 am | Posted in Entertainment, Travels | Leave a comment

I hereby interrupt your normally scheduled weekend programming for a video and some words. This isn’t just any video! It’s a song/two from last night’s Need to Breathe Concert at the 9:30 club in DC. I got clued into this band from my dear roommate about a year ago. I was addicted instantly to their new album and after seeing the magic and energy they exhibit on stage- I am hooked. They are spiritual awesome love filled crack and I can’t get enough! So please enjoy my iPhone’s recording (surprising quality actually) of the Reckoning.’

And then this post wouldn’t be complete without detailing the song that brought me to joyous tears at the concert.

Keep Your Eyes Open…

If you could soldier on
Headstrong into the storm
I’ll be here waiting on the other side
Don’t look back
The road is long
The first days of the war are gone
Take back your former throne and turn the tide

Cause if you never leave home, never let go
You’ll never make it to the great unknown till you
Keep your eyes open, my love
So tell me you’re strong, tell me you see
I need to hear it, can you promise me to
Keep your eyes open, my love

Just past the circumstance
The first light, a second chance
No child could ever dance the way you do, oh
Tear down the prison walls
Don’t start the curtain call
Your chains will never fall until you do

Don’t let the night become the day
Don’t take the darkness to the grave
I know pain is just a place
The will has been broken
Don’t let the fear become the hate
Don’t take the sadness to the grave
I know the fight is on the way
When the sides have been chosen

Cause if you never leave home, never let go
You’ll never make it to the great unknown
Open up your eyes
Keep your eyes open
So tell me you’re strong, tell me you see
I need to hear it, can you promise me to
Keep your eyes open, my love
So show me your fire, show me your heart
You know I’ll never let you fall apart if you
Keep your eyes open, my love

Simple Strawberry Frozen Yogurt

April 20, 2012 at 7:00 am | Posted in Dinner | 5 Comments

Isn’t it purty? Yeah and all it took was two ingredients! Greek yogurt and strawberry freezer jam. And some time in the cold spinning machine.  Speaking of spinning… hope we have some fun spinning around the kitchen dance floor at Beth’s tonight for cookbook club. Alayne and I really feel its necessary to get our dance on at least for a little while each session of cookbook club. Love dancing with my ladies and really looking forward to all of this awesome pizza.   And maybe while dancing to this song.. pretty fun right?

Speaking of fun, (do you like how I’m doing this transitions??) I’ve been seeing this smart lady here in Frederick and she has been helping me learn how to treat myself better in my head. And although it has been making me cry tears of truth realization, it has been fun actually seeing these new thoughts actually working for what I want in my life.

Go for the jump to read more about my thoughts and to see more of the strawberry jam and my simple dinner from this week!

Birthday Tea for Jen at Cafe Anglais!

April 13, 2012 at 7:00 am | Posted in Dessert, Lunch | 3 Comments

It is no secret that I love my cousin Jen. Her husband, my actual cousin, Bobby was one smart guy to marry her and he gave the rest of our family the gift of a wonderful family member and especially for me a close friend. It is also no secret that Jen loves to go to tea! We went here last year for her birthday and realized that we have been to four different tea houses in Maryland together! Another tea shop in Frederick was too busy for a party of 6, so from recommendation from my friends Kendra and Adam, we decided to go to Cafe Anglaise!

I would definitely say this place is traditional, and not especially “girlie.” The owner Michael was very gracious and obviously British. The tea house has a nice relaxed atmosphere and the food was good! Not outstanding, but very good. Go for the jump to see more pictures!

Come, O come, come to the river flowing from the body of Christ. We’ll go down, deep in the water, but in the Lord, we shall arise.

Dude I bought a Dehydrator

This one to be exact! This all came about because my roomate Jenn started thinking about eating more Paleo recently. Meat jerkys and dried fruit are great snacks for that diet, or for any healthy diet for that matter.  I started looking up dehydrated recipes on the internet and found some good ones. Last week when an amazon local coupon came up I jumped on it and it helped bring down the price to $30! Not bad for creating more healthy eating options in my life!

Here’s a shot of my awesomely delicious super easy dehydrated strawberries…. What’s good is that these are something healthy to munch on when I need a crunch at work, but whats also good is that its keeping my hands semi occupied at night when I usually find the need to oversnack. I’ve also made banana chips and kale chips this week! And I’ve taken the super easy route of not treating the bananas or strawberries with lemon juice or fake sugar and they have turned out awesome!!! (At least to my tastebuds!) Go for the jump to see more pictures of the process…
