Vermont Vacation 2012 Part Uno!!!

August 13, 2012 at 11:56 am | Posted in Travels | 1 Comment

Hey Ya’ll, Happy Monnnnnday. So let’s call this week vacation week! Not because I’m on vacation, cause I’m not (and boo I have no idea when the next one will be.) But so we can amuse ourselves by re-living the last one!

Mama, sista and Laura and I got up realllllly early on that Wednesday morning and drove the 8.5 hours up to Vermont! We actually were in PA and NY for a lot of the driving and to get to Vermont, take the Essex Ferry. It’s such a nice declaration kind of thing, once you’re on this baby, relaxation starts to set in. πŸ˜€

Keep on going for the jump to see more pictures. πŸ˜€

And then the ferry takes around 30 mins and about 15 minutes after that we found ourselves on the porch. πŸ˜€ The best porch in all eternity. It fits SO many of us (okay so like 25) and it has the most magical view.

Here are the cute abuelito’s maxin and relaxing.

After our good share of porch time, we headed down to the water. There’s a pretty nice dock and then also a floating dock out there too. Laurita and I jumped in! And then the water did not look so calm. πŸ˜€

The next morning I got up bright and early and ran 6 miles! Woot. This barn was at the 3 mile mark.

And then later that afternoon, Marfi and my little girl cousins showed up too! So naturally, we wentΒ  in the lake. Do you see a pattern here? Exercise, Eat, Lake, Eat, Eat. The exercise bit is crucial. πŸ˜€

I love my cousins!!! We have so much fun together. Even if its just swimming for 10 minutes to sit on the floating dock for an hour in the sun πŸ˜€ Later that night we set up the fire pit that mom brought. And we chowed down on Tomato Pesto on Spaghetti, courtesty of Bobby and Jen, and some of Auntie Helen’s delicious Good Seasons salad.

The next day in addition to some biking with sister and Auntie Catherine, sis and I went kayaking!

Untitled I tried to convince her that we could kayak over to the NY side of the lake, but she was not feeling it. πŸ˜€ Next year gotta do that!!

Then I hung out with Sarah as she played with the easily splittable rocks on the lake. πŸ˜€

That evening, I helped Bob and Jen fix up dinner. Bobby/Marfi had put three dry rubbed pork butts in the oven in the wee hours of the morning and so for dinner we had pulled pork and also Pit Beef. Ahh the chef at work. I like helping him in the kitchen πŸ˜€

And our al fresco dining. It’s fun to set it up outside in front of the porch. We had coleslaw, some mac and cheese and mashed potatoes.

And to top off the night, we celebrate the upcoming nuptials for BLT and Auntie Helen with some cake! (Store bought, not self made! We’re on vacation people, remember!! From Mirabelle’s)
