DC BBQ Festival
June 27, 2011 at 4:12 pm | Posted in Dinner, Entertainment, Travels | 2 CommentsMy dear blog friend Kit had a nice post up last week. She had received tickets to give away for the DC BBQ festival. All us readers had to do was tell her our favorite barbeque sauces! Mine is mustard based. And poof a couple of days later I got the message that I won! After searching high and low for who I would give the tickets to, I realized I should go myself and Laurita decided she would be my date! I was so happy and we had the best day together in DC yesterday. She’s the best sister I could ever ask for.
After much hungry deliberation, Laurita and I settled on one stand to get our barbeque lunch. Here was the pulled pork sandwich we shared and DAMN IT WAS GOOD! Better than I expected… because I was slightly miffed that they only had one barbeque sauce at their place and that they were out of coleslaw!
The pork was so flavorful, almost sweet, which is what made us fall in love with it I think. Go for the jump and see lots more pictures from the festival…

DC Foodie Community Survey

DC is a place I truly need to go visit more often. Now that a move to Boston is out of the question (HALLELUJAH!) I am so happy to try to get to know more things around where I will live for the rest of my life.
Frederick is definitely a “DC-area” kind of locale. Less than an hour away, great things to see and do. I look forward to seeing Erica, Allison and Jess B more in the next couple of months and seeing what kind of trouble we can get into in DC!

Friday Fabulosity with Pinterest
June 24, 2011 at 9:11 am | Posted in Pinterest | 3 CommentsHappy Friday Folks! So today is the day when I am officially departing from my previous blog topics. I have no food to share with you, so instead I will share other things that have been making me happy!
Tonight I’m going out to dinner with Alayne so maybe I’ll blog about that next week but Alayne has jumped on the Pinterest train with me and I am so excited for that!
It was about two months ago when I realized that all of that wedding inspiration I had been secretly hiding could come to a place where I could view everything visually in a collage. I went and pinned all of those links and poof! I had a wedding pinterest! Of course now there is positively no wedding to plan, but I have started using my pinterest board to collect awesome quotations, really good home decorating and diy projects, and other random things I want to buy like nail polish and clothes. Summertime Girlie Dinner Party!!!

It had been long enough since I had cooked a meal with Beffy, Kelly, and Laurita and I wanted to bring Allison and Lynsi into the mix! The whole gang had so much fun and it was the first time I really felt like we got to use our backyard beautifully!
I made a strawberry flatbread, inspiration and recipe courtesy of Miss Joy the Baker, and it was the perfect start to our meal! Go for the jump and see lots more fun pictures!

Alayne’s 30th Cupcake Party!

We met through cookbook club and I am SO THANKFUL I can call her my friend now. She and I have some growing pains to share in our lives and I know we will make it through and come out on top! So whats cute about Alayne is that she lovvvveeeessss cupcakes, basically obsessed. So when the cookbook club ladies started planning this back in April we knew cupcakes had to be front and center! Here she is with one of the delicious chocolate ones with that awesome party hat.

Martha’s Bridal Shower Details!
June 14, 2011 at 11:05 am | Posted in Brunch, Dessert, Entertainment | 1 CommentHelloooo all. I hereby declare this week on SIP- party week! What’s the best way to get over heartache?? Partying of course! Well actually, I would think self reflection, mad bits of hysterical crying and good hugs from friends and family would do it, but parties sure don’t hurt! Marfi’s bridal shower was definitely a beautiful and enjoyable party, as well as Alayne’s 30th Cupcake Party this past Saturday and I can’t wait for my upcoming girlie party this weekend in Frederick!
So I wanted to go over all of the fun details and food we had for Marfi’s Bridal Shower. In less than three weeks she will be married!!! Can’t wait for that long weekend, it is bound to be the best!
Here is the bridal party in all of our lovely attire! It was a very sunny day, which might have led to some cupcake frosting melting… but other than that it was a blessing!

Voldemort is Back
June 6, 2011 at 9:37 am | Posted in Uncategorized | 10 CommentsYep, its true. Remember this post from like 2 years ago, when I referred to this person as Voldemort. Well He Who Must Not Be Named is back in that situation.
The “man-child” that I loved and supported for 7 years of my life has betrayed me. He took my heart and smashed it on the ground.
From now on I look forward. My life is looking better and better every minute since Saturday night. The outpouring of love from my friends and family is a clear sign that I am the one who is loved. There is a light at the end of this horrible tunnel and I will get there!
